New Products
A lot of Bio in Pouches

Biodegradable CERAMIS® films can be used to package a wide variety of products. One example is the „bio pouch“ from the Swiss packaging company Wipf. This pouch has received both the Swiss Star 2007, in the category of prototypes, and the World Star awards. The sealable bio pouch is manufactured on the basis of renewable resources. It consists of paper and a barrier layer made of bio-plastics (CERAMIS®-PLA). All types of pouches can be made out of these new laminates: Stand-up pouches, satchel bags, side sealed bags and gusseted bags.

Bio pouches can be used for dry and moisture filled goods. They can be used as packaging for coffee, instant products, tea, biscuits and muesli, as well as for dry products in the pet food or non food market.

New Products
Tea packaging with CERAMIS®

After several years of development the first tea package with CERAMIS® is now available in the market. The paper-CERAMIS®-PE laminate is produced by one of our customers in France. The pre-manufactured laminate is then printed by a filler in the USA. Finally, a US company packages single tea-bags within the CERAMIS® laminate. The decisive argument for the choice of CERAMIS® was its excellent aroma barrier. This barrier guarantees that the tea maintains its strong fruity flavour for a long time.

Presentations
“Production, Coating and Applications of PLA Films”

From March 5-6, 2008, SKZ (Süddeutsches Kunststoffzentrum) and Innoform will organise together the international conference “Biopolymers in Film Applications” in Würzburg (Germany). The event offers specialists from the film industry along with film users an up-to-date overview of biopolymers which are technically applicable for biofilms. Starting from the polymers, this symposium will look intensely at film production and will furthermore present markets and applications for this type of material.

Thomas Glaw from the CERAMIS® team will make a presentation about “Production, Coating and Applications of PLA Films”.

The conference language is German. All lectures will be simultaneously translated (German/English and English/German).
