Implementation of the BRC/IoP Standard
|
The business unit CERAMIS® aims to attain in 2007 the certification according to the BRC/IoP standard which is a guideline for manufacturers of food packaging for retail branded products and their suppliers. It was developed by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) in cooperation with the Institute of Packaging (IoP).
The aim of the standard is, on the one hand, the demonstration of a reliable hygiene management, on the other hand the confirmation of a functioning quality management system including all relevant process controls.
The requirements to achieve the standard are the realisation of a product and process specific risk analysis following the HACCP concept, a documented quality management programme as well as the control of all surrounding factors. These surrounding factors include, amongst others, the operational hygiene (e.g. buildings, machines, maintenance, cleaning and personnel hygiene) and prevention of contamination (e.g. control of foreign bodies, registers for glass and blades, cleaning schedules).

Awards
Alcan Packaging Innovations Award for CERAMIS®-PLA
|
 In November 2006 Alcan Packaging awarded our biodegradable CERAMIS®-PLA films with an internal innovations award in the category Sustainability.
CERAMIS®-PLA films are made 100% from renewable, natural resources. The SiOx coated films are completely biodegradable and compostable – they will degrade into CO2 and H2O.

CERAMIS® Films for special solutions
|
|
In addition to our standard portfolio of barrier films we offer a variety of tailor-made CERAMIS® films according to customer requirements. Here we apply the SiOx layer on different base films, like PET, up to 190µm gauge, high transparent PET films or Polycarbonate films. Are you interested in our programme for special films? Trade Fairs
CERAMIS® exhibits at ICE in Munich and Pack Fair in Kiev
|
 In 2007 we will continue exhibiting our products at several trade fairs in Europe.
Together with some of our sister companies we will participate at Pack Fair 2007 in Kiev/Ukraine (Feb. 27 – March 02, 2007) and at the International Converting Exhibition in Munich/Germany (March 27-29, 2007, booth 1-U15).
At both exhibitions we will present our range of transparent high barrier films, especially the new biodegradable CERAMIS®-PLA films. We are looking forward to seeing you at our booths!
