Price reduction due to continuous improvement
|
 As a result of different optimizations and improvements in the manufacture of CERAMIS oPA - CPA001 grade - we were able to improve our costs and henceforth our price. Through the use of longer and wider reels, as well as through improved machine efficiency, we could reduce the price by approximately 20%.
So CPA001 becomes an interesting alternative for non heat treated packages. Please contact us for an updated price-list. |

Pouches for Dialysis with gas barrier
|
 Fresenius Medical Care AG is the world’s largest provider of Dialysis Products and Services. Peritoneal Dialysis is an important product segment for the treatment of patients with chronic kidney failures. A dialysis solution is introduced through a catheter in the abdominal wall using a pouch system. The peritoneum has similar attributes to the artificial filter used in haemodialysis: its pores allow the passage of certain substances while blocking others. Peritoneal dialysis uses this naturally filtering organ. In contrast to the system using a dialysis machine, it can be performed by the patient at home or in an outpatient clinic.
Beginning of the year, FMC could underline its leadership in product innovation by launching a new pouch system. After several years of collaboration with Alcan Packaging and with the use of CERAMIS®, a pouch material which provides gas barrier has been developed. The laminate made of CERAMIS® and Polypropylene offers the opportunity to pack and sterilize the Bicarbonate solution and to avoid a special barrier layer in the secondary package. The gas barrier of the CERAMIS® layer is therefore a decisive element of the pouch system and plays an important role with regard to the functionality of the dialysis product.

Gold Award for Asian Style Selections

 In the last issue of our newsletter, we presented the product range of “Asian Style Selections”. Meanwhile, these microwavable, high-barrier retortable CERAMIS® pouches have won another award: On February 25, 2005, we received the Gold Award of the Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) in the packaging excellence category. FPA is the leading trade organization for flexible packaging converters and suppliers. |

 From the 22nd to 24th of November 2005, we will participate – together with our French sister company Alcan Packaging Dax, producer of PE and PP converter films – at the ICE (International Converting Exhibition) at Munich. We are looking forward to seeing you at our booth V07 in hall 1! |
